Challenges
Water ministers refer to Egypt's Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Ethiopia's Minister of Water Irrigation and Electricity, and Sudan's Minister of Electricity and Water Resources. Construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), located in Ethiopia, is more than halfway complete. However, ongoing technical negotiations between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan have hit a roadblock as Egypt has concerns over its downstream access to Nile water (Arab News, Stratfor, Global Construction Review).
