After California passed a law creating a new test to for determining whether workers can be classified as independent contractors, firms like Uber and Lyft are supporting Proposition 22 on the state ballot this November (The Hill, Daily Californian, CA Office of Attorney General). Proposition 22 would change the law to consider app-based drivers to be independent contractors (Ballotpedia).
