Cmen asks:
In 2021, will total fire activity in the Amazon exceed the 2020 total count?
Closed Dec 31, 2021 08:01AM UTC
The increasing number of fires in South America, particularly Brazil, has captured international attention (Guardian, BBC). The outcome will be determined with data reported by the GFED in its "Cumulative Monthly Fire Counts" chart in the “Totals” section, seeing whether the Cumulative Monthly Fire Counts for 2021 exceeds the entire total for 31 December 2020 (Global Fire Emissions Database).
