The Bank of England's benchmark interest rate is known as the "Bank Rate" (Economist, Bank of England). Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and negotiations with the EU regarding an end to the Brexit transition period, the Bank of England has explored setting negative interest rates for the UK (BBC, Guardian, S&P GlobalFinancial Times).
