Since early May 2022, monkeypox infections spread beyond the west and central African countries where it is endemic (Pan American Health Organization, CNBC, US News & World Report). The question will be suspended on 20 November 2022 and the outcome determined using data through and including 20 November 2022 as first reported by Our World in Data (OWiD) (OWiD). As of 5 October 2022, there were 70,993 cumulative confirmed cases of monkeypox in the world.
