Since 2014, Google has focused on developing a fully autonomous vehicle that can "operate safely and autonomously without requiring human intervention" and which "won't have a steering wheel, accelerator pedal, or brake pedal… because they don’t need them" (Google Self-Driving Car Project, Google Official Blog, Google Plus). Public testing refers to testing that allows people from the general public to use Google's Cars. Uber's testing of its autonomous cars in Pittsburgh is an example of public testing (Bloomberg, NY Times). Google is currently testing its self driving cars in Kirkland, WA, Mountain View, CA, Phoenix, AZ, and Austin, TX, but those tests are not open to the public. smoothgroover22 on flickr Recommended Questions Between 12 August 2016 and the end of 2016, will any US state enact legislation that allows autonomous vehicles to operate on its public roads?
