Closed Sep 06, 2024 04:01PM UTC
On 24 August 2024, NASA announced that it would not attempt to return US astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore to Earth using the Boeing Starliner spacecraft then docked at the International Space Station, and the spacecraft is expected to attempt a "safe, controlled autonomous re-entry and landing" in early September 2024 (NASA, AP). The spacecraft will be deemed to have safely returned to Earth upon touching down on Earth as designed and intact.
