Before 2 August 2025, will Congress issue a subpoena for Hunter Biden to testify or otherwise provide evidence or information?
Closed Aug 02, 2025 07:01AM UTC
One consequence of President Biden's surprise pardon of his son, Hunter, is that Hunter Biden is no longer afforded the protection of the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination for the matters pardoned (Newsweek, US News & World Report, News Nation). A subpoena issued by either house of Congress, including any congressional committees, will count (Cornell - Subpoena). A mere invitation to testify before Congress will not count. Whether the subpoena is actually served on Hunter Biden is immaterial.
