How many cumulative year-to-date US resident cases of pertussis (aka whooping cough) will the CDC report as of Week 52 of 2025?
Closed Dec 27, 2025 08:01AM UTC
Cases of pertussis in the US jumped in 2024 (CDC, CNN). The total number of cases in 2024 reported through Week 52 (week ending 28 December 2024) was 35,435, which was higher than the 7,063 total for 2023 reported as of the end of 2024 (CDC Stacks - Pertussis Week 52 2024). The question will be suspended on 26 December 2025 and the outcome determined using data as first reported by the CDC for the week ending 27 December 2025 (CDC Stacks, select "Pertussis" under "Topics" and "2025" under "Publication Year" to limit search results, and see "U.S. Residents, excluding U.S. Territories"). Please note that the CDC changed its reporting from "Wonder" to "Stacks" in January 2025, so the procedure for accessing the data has changed from previous questions.
