The 2026 Winter Olympics are scheduled to be hosted by the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo from 6 February 2026 through 22 February 2026 (Olympics.com, Bleacher Report). In the event of a tie, rank will be determined first by the total number of gold medals, then total silver medals, then total bronze medals. If a tie still exists thereafter, the country with fewer athletes eligible to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics will be deemed to have won the most gold medals. For the purposes of this question, medals won by Russian and Belarusian athletes are immaterial (ESPN). Whether an athlete is stripped of a medal after the conclusion of the 2026 Olympics is immaterial.
