On September 5, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that no new applications under the Obama Administration-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will be processed, and that renewals for those already granted permits under the program will be granted through the next six months (Chicago Sun Times, CNN). President Trump has called on Congress to pass legislation to codify the program before those six months end (Bloomberg). Legal protections of any duration will count.
