Narendra Modi, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has served as prime minister of India since 2014 (The Economist, Inter-Parliamentary Union). General elections for the Lok Sabha are due to be held in April and May 2019 (Aljazeera). If no prime minister has been appointed by 1 October 2019, the question will be closed as no.
