Paris is scheduled to host the 2024 Summer Olympics, and France is hoping to finish in the top five in the medal count (Inside the Games). As of December 2023, Nielsen's Gracenote Virtual Medal Table forecast had France winning 54 medals total, which would put it in fifth place behind (in order) the US, China, Great Britain, and Japan (Infobae, Nielsen - Virtual Medal Table). The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are scheduled for 26 July through 11 August 2024 (Paris 2024). In the event of a tie, rank will be determined first by the total number of gold medals, then total silver medals, then total bronze medals. If a tie still exists, then the question will close with the rank with which France is tied with another country or countries. For the purposes of this question, delegations from countries would count as countries (e.g., NBC Chicago).
