Which US state will rank first in U-Haul's Growth Index in 2025?
Closed Jan 01, 2026 08:01AM UTC
U-Haul, the moving equipment and storage company, compiles a list each year of US states ranked based on its net gain or loss "of customers utilizing one-way U-Haul equipment in a calendar year," which was topped by South Carolina in 2024 after ranking fourth in 2023 (UHaul Growth Index 2024, UHaul Growth Index 2023). The question will be suspended on 31 December 2025 and the outcome determined using data as reported by U-Haul for 2025, expected in early January 2026 (UHaul - Migration). In the event of a tie, the state with the lower population using the latest Census Bureau population data available as of the release of the 2025 rankings will be considered to rank first. For the purposes of this question, the District of Columbia is considered a state.
