While Pelosi has filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission for 2026, there is reporting that the Democratic Party is looking at succession plans for her seat (San Francisco Standard, Newsweek, National News Desk). In the event of Pelosi's death, incapacitation, or other similar circumstances without a public announcement from Pelosi herself, the question will close "No."
