Will Google's acquisition of cybersecurity firm Wiz close before 1 January 2027?
Closing Jan 01, 2027 08:01AM UTC
On 18 March 2025, Google announced an agreement to acquire Wiz, Inc. for $32 billion in cash, which is expected to trigger US antitrust scrutiny (Google 18 March 2025). Whether a complaint is filed by the Department of Justice or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is immaterial (FTC - Merger Review, Department of Justice - Merger Review Process, Investopedia - Antitrust). Regulatory treatment of the deal is seen as a test of the Trump administration's antitrust policy (CNBC, Yahoo [Reuters]). The question will close early if both Google and Wiz announce that they are no longer seeking to close the deal.
