As the summer travel season approaches, some Americans are paring back vacation plans as staffing shortages create delays at some major US airports (CNBC, CBS News). The question will be suspended on 31 August 2025 and the outcome determined using "TSA checkpoint travel numbers" as reported by the TSA (TSA). In 2025, Memorial Day weekend begins on Friday 23 May 2025, and Labor Day weekend ends on 1 September 2025. Over the same period in 2024 (24 May to 2 September), TSA screened 271,718,077 travelers, up from 256,343,290 over the same period in 2023 (26 May to 4 September).
