The numbers of border encounters in the southwest US have fallen dramatically since President Trump's inauguration in January 2025 (KXAN, News Nation). The question will be suspended on 31 October 2026 if still open and the outcome determined using data as reported by CBP (CBP). The question is concerned with data as first reported for a month, and subsequent revisions will be immaterial. As of the launch of this question, CBP reported 11,017 encounters in March 2025, down from 189,359 in March 2024.
