Before 18 October 2025, will Eric Adams and/or Andrew Cuomo cease to be a candidate for mayor of New York City (NYC)?
Closed Oct 18, 2025 07:01AM UTC
With incumbent Mayor Eric Adams and former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo running as independents against Zohran Mamdani and others in the 2025 NYC mayoral election, observers are speculating whether opponents of Mamdani can coalesce around a single candidate (CBS News, The Hill, 710 WOR). Early voting for the general election is scheduled to begin on 25 October 2025 (NYC Campaign Finance Board). A candidate officially announcing that he is no longer seeking the office of mayor of NYC will count.
