How much net electricity will the US generate in 2026, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA)?

Electricity demand in the US is expected to grow amid, among other things, expanding AI infrastructure (Yahoo [Reuters], Utility Dive, ICF International). The question will be suspended on 31 December 2026 and the outcome determined using data using data provided by the EIA for "Total (including from sources not shown)" at the bottom of the table (EIA, click "DOWNLOAD" for additional options). Under "TABLE 7.2a Electricity Net Generation: Total (All Sectors)," see "Total (including from sources not shown)." As of the launch of this question, the EIA reported that the US generated 4,304,038.717 million kilowatt hours (kWh), or 4,304.038717 terawatt hours (TWh), in 2024.
