The Japanese firm Rapidus Corporation was founded in 2022 with the goal of mass producing 2nm semiconductor chips by 2027 (Rapidus - CEO Message, Tom's Hardware). For the purposes of this question, Rapidus will be considered to reach mass production with a rate of 25,000 or more 300mm wafers with a 80% or higher yield rate in a month (actual production, not claimed capacity) (Rapidus, SemiWiki). "Yield" is defined as "a percentage of the total number of chips that were actually produced to the maximum chip (IC) count on one wafer" (Samsung - Yield). The question will resolve no later than 26 February 2028 as we wait for relevant reporting on production before 1 January 2028.
