The number of Americans consuming alcohol fell to a record low in 2025, according to a poll that Gallup has been running annually since 1939 (CBS News). The question will be suspended on 1 August 2026 and the outcome determined using 2026 survey data as reported by Gallup (Gallup). The percentage of Americans saying they have occasion to drink alcohol has fallen from 67% in 2022 to 54% in 2025.
