When will early parliamentary elections be called in Serbia?
Closing Jun 10, 2026 07:01AM UTC
While elections for both the president and parliament of Serbia are not due until 2027, protests over various issues and for early elections have continued for nearly a year since a roof collapse killed 14 people on 1 November 2024 (ABC News, BBC, France 24, AP). In early October 2025, President Aleksandar Vučić said that Serbia will "probably jointly hold the presidential and parliamentary elections, I assume in December 2026, maybe a little earlier" (See News). The President of Serbia is empowered to dissolve parliament (National Assembly) and simultaneously schedule new elections (Constitution of Serbia, see Article 109). The date set for new parliamentary elections is immaterial.
