After the former prime minister was sentenced to death in absentia for crime against humanity, the interim government of Bangladesh has renewed demands that India extradite Sheikh Hasina (Al Jazeera, Yahoo [Telegraph], Economic Times). Hasina resigned and fled to India amid widespread protests in July and August 2024 (BBC, AP). Hasina must be in Bangladeshi custody in Bangladesh to count, and extradition from a country other than India will not count.
