The Economist asks:
Before 1 October 2026, will the Israeli president grant Benjamin Netanyahu a full pardon on all charges in the cases currently before Israeli courts?
Closing Oct 01, 2026 07:01AM UTC
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu submitted a request to the president of Israel for a pardon of the charges for which Netanyahu is on trial (Economist, AP, Guardian, Yahoo [Jerusalem Post]). For the purposes of this question, the cases currently before Israeli courts are "Case 1000," "Case 2000," and "Case 4000" (Al Jazeera). The question will close upon A) the president of Israel publicly announcing that Netanyahu's request for a full pardon will not be granted, B) the dismissal of all charges against Netanyahu with the dismissal not subject to appeal, or C) Netanyahu's death. Subsequent appeals or review by the Israeli judiciary regarding the granting of a pardon itself is immaterial.
