Studios are looking to continue their box office recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and streaming competition (Deadline, The Wrap, Hollywood Reporter). The question will be suspended on 31 December 2026 and the outcome determined using Domestic Yearly Box Office data as reported by Box Office Mojo once nonestimate data are available for the full 2026 calendar year (Box Office Mojo). As of the launch of this question, Box Office Mojo reported the total Domestic Yearly Box Office for 2025 as $8,655,108,477. "Domestic" refers to gross box-office revenue from North America (US, Canada, and Puerto Rico) (IMDb - Box Office Mojo FAQ).
