As the European Central Bank (ECB) continues its programs of quantitative easing and negative interest rates in the face of recession fears, there are concerns that the ECB will not be able to return to its inflation target of "below, but close to, 2% over the medium term" (MarketWatch, AP, Financial Times, ECB). The outcome will be determined based on Eurostat data for "Euro area (19 countries)" (Eurostat).
