Will Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter close before 1 January 2023?

After Elon Musk announced his bid to buy Twitter in April 2022, various developments have put the deal into question (Twitter, CNN, The Hill). When Twitter announced that it accepted Musk's offer, it stated that the transaction "is expected to close in 2022" (SEC - EDGAR). The question would close early upon the official termination of the deal per filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
