The Bank of England, the UK's central bank, cut its benchmark Bank Rate by 0.25% for a second time in 2024 at its November monetary policy meeting and is expected to cut rates further in 2025 (Goldman Sachs, BBC). The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) sets the Bank Rate, which, as of 19 December 2024, was 4.75% (Bank of England - Bank Rate, Bank of England - Monetary Policy Summary, December 2024). As of the launch of this question, the MPC's next monetary policy meeting announcement is scheduled for 6 February 2025 (Bank of England - Monetary Policy Committee Calendar).
