The unemployment rate in Canada reached 7.0% in May 2025, a nine-year high outside of the COVID pandemic (CBC, Statistics Canada - Methodology of the Canadian Labour Force Survey). The question will be suspended on 31 December 2025 and the outcome determined using "Unemployment rate" data as reported by Trading Economics when first released (Trading Economics). As of the launch of this question, the unemployment rate for December 2024 was reported as 6.7%. Additional data are available on Statistics Canada (Statistics Canada, see "Unemployment rate" [Seasonally adjusted]).
