When will early parliamentary elections be called in Serbia?
Closed Oct 07, 2025 07:01AM UTC
While elections for both the president and parliament of Serbia are not due until 2027, protests for early elections have grown throughout the first half of 2025, with as many as 140,000 protesting in Belgrade on 28 June (BBC, CNN, France 24, Deutsche Welle). The President of Serbia is empowered to dissolve parliament (National Assembly) and simultaneously schedule new elections (Constitution of Serbia, see Article 109). The date set for new parliamentary elections is immaterial.
