The inflation rate in the US has remained elevated in 2025 as the impacts of tariffs and potential interest rate cuts work their way through the economy (CNBC, CNN, Investopedia - CPI). The question will be suspended on 31 December 2025 and the outcome determined using the 12-month percentage change for December 2025 when first released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) for "All items" as reported by the Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) database, expected in January 2026 (FRED, click "EDIT GRAPH" and change "Units" to "Percent Change from Year Ago"). As of the launch of this question, the change for December 2024 was 2.87237%.
