Will Jimmy Kimmel and/or his production company Kimmelot sue the FCC and/or another part of the US federal government over the announced suspension of his late-night talk show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" before 20 January 2026?
Closing Jan 20, 2026 08:01AM UTC
Broadcaster ABC announced on 17 September 2025 that it was pulling "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" off the air "indefinitely" amid backlash against the late-night host's comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk (NBC News, Newsweek, BBC, Kimmelot - About). The role Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr may have played in ABC's decision has come under scrutiny (The Hill, Politico). Whether Disney, ABC, another division of Disney, or others are party to the suit is immaterial. The US court with which a lawsuit is filed, federal or state, is immaterial, and the relief sought is immaterial.
