Financial institutions have relied on the Federal Reserve's repurchase agreement (repo) operations at the end of quarters in 2025, which can indicate liquidity issues in the financial system (Investopedia - Repurchase Agreement, Yahoo [Investing.com], Federal Reserve, Yahoo [Reuters]). The question will be suspended on 30 December 2025 and the outcome determined using data as reported for 31 December 2025 by the Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) database (FRED). On 30 September 2025, the Federal Reserve purchased $5.000 billion in Treasury securities in the form of overnight repurchase agreements.
