Kansas is the top producer of winter wheat among US states, a crop that depends on late spring precipitation (World Grain, Successful Farming). The question will be suspended on 27 April 2026 and the outcome determined using data as reported by the US Drought Monitor, expected to be released on 30 April 2026 with data valid as of 28 April 2026 (US Drought Monitor - Map, US Drought Monitor - Data Tables, see the "D2-D4" column with "Area type" set to "State," "Area" set to "Kansas," and "Statistics type" set to "Cumulative Percent Area"). As of 14 October 2025, 0.49% of the area in Kansas was in severe, extreme, or exceptional drought. If a 28 April 2026 valid data date is not reported, the last valid date in April 2026 will be used for resolution.
