Agriculture officials in the US remain concerned about a potential return of New World screwworms as detections in Mexico continue northward, with a case confirmed in early 2026 just 215 miles from the Texas border (Texas Department of Agriculture, Successful Farming, CDC, Oklahoma State University). For the purposes of this question, "livestock" means any single domesticated mammal raised to produce food or other goods that is present in Texas. The question will close as of the announcement, irrespective of when the infestation is believed to have begun.
