How will the Alternative for Germany (Alternative für Deutschland, or AfD) perform in the 2026 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Landtag (state parliament) elections?

AfD has seen a surge in popularity in the northeast German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Hungarian Conservative, Wahlrecht.de [in German]). As of the launch of this question, the 2026 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Landtag elections were scheduled for 20 September 2026 (Bundesrat). In the event of a tie for seats between AfD and another party for a plurality, the party that received more votes for the Landtag will be considered to have won a plurality. A "majority" is more than 50% of seats. A "plurality" is more seats than any other party, but less than a majority.
