While gasoline demand has rebounded from the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of hybrid and electric vehicles continues to increase in the US, putting downward pressure on consumption (Wolf Street, Yahoo, CNBC). The question will be suspended on 31 December 2024 and the outcome determined using "Weekly U.S. Product Supplied of Finished Motor Gasoline" data as reported by the EIA once information for each week with an end date in calendar 2024 is released (EIA, EIA Glossary - Product Supplied). As of the launch of this question, the average of all weekly averages with end dates in calendar 2023 was 8,810.558 thousand barrels per day. For 2022, the average was 8,696.212, which made for a 1.31% increase in 2023 versus 2022.
