Jumps in economic uncertainty in the wake of President Trump's various impositions of tariffs have led to speculation that the Federal Reserve may intervene before its next scheduled Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting (Yahoo [Bloomberg]). The target range for the federal funds rate is set by the FOMC, and its next meeting is scheduled for 6-7 May 2025 (Federal Reserve).
