GregandJamesThePrognosisPosse asks:

Before 1 February 2026, will the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and/or a Texas state department or agency confirm an infestation of the New World screwworm in any Texas livestock animal?

Started Aug 08, 2025 05:00PM UTC
Closing Feb 01, 2026 08:01AM UTC

Agriculture officials are concerned that the New World screwworm may return to the US as detections in Mexico indicate northward movement of the pest that could devastate livestock (AP, CBS News, APHIS - New World Screwworm, Oklahoma State University). For the purposes of this question, "livestock" means any single domesticated mammal raised to produce food or other goods that is present in Texas. The question will close as of the announcement, irrespective of when the infestation is believed to have begun.
