Will the government of Ukraine hold a presidential election in 2026?

A presidential election was due in Ukraine in 2024, but Ukrainian law prohibits holding elections in times of war (Al Jazeera, Wilson Center, Guardian). The election must be held by the Ukrainian government as recognized by the European Union to count. The outcome is immaterial, and whether the results are annulled after the election is held is immaterial (e.g., BBC). Polls do not need to be open for the election throughout the whole country to count.
