kyubi asks:

Will France, Germany, and Spain enter into an agreement on the next phase of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) project before 1 January 2027?

Started Jan 16, 2026 06:00PM UTC
Closing Jan 01, 2027 08:01AM UTC

European attempts to agree on a program for the development and construction of a new fighter jet have stalled (Anadolu Agency, Yahoo [Reuters], Defense Express). Whether other countries are party to the agreement with the three countries is immaterial. The exact form the next phase of the FCAS project will take is immaterial so long as it includes development and/or production of a new fighter jet (e.g., AeroTime). If France, Germany, and/or Spain officially announce that their participation has been canceled, the question will close "No."
