Azuhanel asks:
Will the average US city price of a pound of ground beef reach or exceed $8.00 before December 2026?
Closing Dec 01, 2026 08:01AM UTC
Beef prices in the US have soared due to shrinking cattle herds, import restrictions due to the resurgence of the New World screwworm, and other factors (Fox Business, Yahoo). The question will be suspended on 30 November 2026 if still open and the outcome determined using Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data as first reported by the Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) database (FRED). Subsequent revisions will be immaterial (e.g., If BLS reports a value under $8 for a month and thereafter revises the value up to or above $8 for that same month, that revision will not count). As of the launch of this question, the price of a pound of ground beef in November 2025 in the US was $6.540.
