When will the US publicly acknowledge that it executed a military strike against a ground target within the territory of Mexico?

Mexican officials have voiced concerns that Trump may order military strikes against drug cartels in the country in his second term (Yahoo [Reuters], MSN [Wall Street Journal], El País). "Stray" bullets or ordinance that hit an unintended target after being fired would not count. Both the strike and acknowledgment must occur during the question's open period to count and will close upon the acknowledgment. Targets in territorial waters will not count. Accidents, such as stray ordinance falling onto Mexican territory, will not count.

NOTE 26 August 2025: Actions not executed by the US military will not count (e.g., CIA operations). A public acknowledgment that a strike has taken place is required, but whether that strike has been executed by the US military will be determined using both the public acknowledgement and credible, open-source reporting.
