Before 1 January 2026, will a federal appellate court either issue injunctive relief to block or allow injunctive relief to take effect that would block any of the president's imposition of tariffs made after 19 January 2025 pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA)?

Almost immediately after the US Court of International Trade ruled that President Trump's invocation of the IEEPA to impose broad tariffs exceeded his authority, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit stayed the lower court's injunction while it considers the appeal (BBC, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP). As of the launch of this question, oral arguments were scheduled for 31 July 2025 (Court Listener - V.O.S. Selections, Inc. v. Trump). If a court orders injunctive relief but stays that order pending appeal, the question will remain open unless and until the stay is lifted and the injunctive relief takes effect (Cornell - Injunctive Relief, Cornell - Injunction, Cornell - Stay of Proceedings). "A federal appellate court" includes the US Supreme Court.
