Ossipon asks:

Before 15 January 2023, will federal legislation that would force the social media app TikTok to cease operating in the US become law?

Amid continuing concerns that TikTok could be used by the Chinese government to spy on Americans, a bill was introduced in Congress that would effectively ban the app from being used in the US (US News & World Report, Rubio.Senate.gov, The Week). The date the legislation would take effect would be immaterial, and the exact duration of TikTok not being able to operate in the US would be immaterial. The legislation need not explicitly name TikTok to count so long as the legislation's applicability to TikTok is clear.
